Room In Roof (RIR), or attic rooms, have been common in building for decades. Any attic rooms constructed prior to 1990 likely have no insulation and can suffer greatly from damp. Properly insulating an attic room can have a significant impact on the energy efficiency and EPC rating of a property, as well as protecting against structural issues and increasing the value of a property.
