EPC for New Builds and Conversions in Leeds, West Yorkshire
All new build housing (constructed after April 2008) and commercial to domestic conversions are required to have an energy performance certificate (EPC). Unlike a traditional EPC, new build EPC must be created by an On-Construction Domestic Energy Assessor using the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) methodology. SAP calculations are used to assess how much energy a dwelling will consume and how much carbon dioxide will be produced during standard occupancy.
At Green Earth Energy Improvements, we’re experts in energy performance certificates for new builds, property conversions, and change of use developments. The SAP EPC is required to sell or rent the property and has a validity period of 10 years.
Unlike a traditional EPC, a new build SAP EPC does not require a site visit to be completed, instead the certificate can be issued based on the drawings and specifications of the build. The information that is needed to carry out SAP calculations is:
- Floor plans, elevations, and cross sections
- Construction specifications of walls, roofs, floors, and windows
- Primary and secondary heating and cooling systems
- Details of any renewable technology
- Internal and external lighting details
